Affiliate Disclosure

1. What this page covers

RealEstateCalc.com.au is an independent Australian property and finance information site. This page explains, in plain English, how we use affiliate links, how that may earn us a commission, and how we maintain editorial independence. Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) guidance asks affiliate publishers to disclose their commercial relationships clearly and upfront — this page is part of how we do that.

2. Affiliate links and commissions

Some of the links on this website are affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link and then take an action with the third-party provider — for example, visit their site, sign up, apply for a product, or make a purchase — we may receive a commission, referral fee, or other compensation. This is at no additional cost to you and does not change the terms of the offer you receive.

We participate in the Commission Factory affiliate network, and we may join other Australian affiliate networks and direct partner programs from time to time. Partners we may receive compensation from include banks, lenders, insurers, energy retailers, and product comparison services.

3. Editorial independence

Our content decisions are independent of our commercial relationships. Specifically:

  • We choose which calculators to build and which topics to cover based on what we think is useful, not what pays best.
  • Our calculator formulas, the rates and thresholds we publish, and the way we describe products are not adjusted to favour partners.
  • We do not accept payment to publish a favourable review, suppress information, or alter calculations.
  • Where a page contains affiliate links, we will indicate this near the link, at the top of the page, or via a banner — so you can identify which links are commercial.

If you ever feel a piece of content reads as though a partner influenced it, please tell us using our contact page — independence only works if we hear when it slips.

4. What we are not

RealEstateCalc is an information site. We are not:

  • a credit provider or credit assistance provider
  • a mortgage broker
  • a financial adviser
  • an insurance broker or insurance issuer
  • the holder of an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) or Australian Credit Licence (ACL)

All information on this site is general in nature and does not take into account your personal objectives, financial situation, or needs. Before acting on any information or applying for any product, you should read the relevant Product Disclosure Statement (PDS), Target Market Determination (TMD), and Credit Guide, and consider seeking advice from a licensed professional.

5. Paid search and trademarks

We do not bid on advertiser trademarks, brand names, or common misspellings of those brand names in any paid search activity. We acquire visitors through organic search, direct traffic, referrals, and earned coverage.

6. Cookies and tracking from affiliate links

When you click an affiliate link, the partner — directly or via the affiliate network — may set a cookie on your device so that any subsequent action you take with them can be attributed back to us. These cookies are used solely for referral attribution and any related fraud prevention. You can block or delete these cookies through your browser settings, although doing so may not affect whether we earn a commission once you have already taken an action.

For more detail on the third parties that may set cookies on this site, see our Privacy Policy.

7. Comparison content and rankings

Where we present comparisons, league tables, or "best" lists, we use publicly available data — for example, advertised interest rates, fees, or product features as published by the issuer. Our comparison data is dated and refers to the source we used. We do not claim to compare every product in the market. Where products are ordered, the order reflects the criterion we describe (e.g. lowest advertised variable rate as at a given date), not the size of any commission we may receive.

8. How to identify an affiliate link

Affiliate links on this site typically:

  • open the partner's site in a new tab
  • carry a rel attribute of sponsored or nofollow on the underlying anchor tag
  • are accompanied by a short disclosure note nearby, or by a page-level disclosure banner

9. Questions

If you have any questions about how we use affiliate links, please use our contact page. We are happy to explain any specific link, partner relationship, or how a particular page was put together.

10. Changes to this disclosure

We may update this disclosure from time to time as our affiliate partners change or as the regulatory environment evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
