About Gungahlin
Gungahlin is one of Canberra's newest and fastest-growing town centres, located approximately 15 kilometres north of the CBD. The suburb has been developed largely since the 1990s and represents modern Australian suburban planning, with purpose-built housing estates, landscaped parks, cycling paths, and community facilities designed from the ground up. Property is predominantly modern detached homes, townhouses, and apartments in the town centre, all built to contemporary standards. Gungahlin Marketplace and the surrounding commercial precinct provide comprehensive retail, dining, and services. The suburb was the first to be connected by the Canberra light rail system, with services running from Gungahlin Place station along Flemington Road and Northbourne Avenue to the CBD, providing a convenient and popular commuter route. The suburb borders several nature reserves including Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary, a nationally significant conservation area with fenced habitat for endangered species. Yerrabi Pond provides a lakeside recreation area with walking paths and picnic facilities. The Gungahlin area includes a growing number of schools, sporting facilities including Gungahlin Enclosed Oval, and active community groups. Gungahlin appeals strongly to young families seeking modern homes with excellent infrastructure, first home buyers attracted by competitive prices compared to established suburbs, professionals using the light rail to commute to the CBD, and investors drawn by the area's strong population growth and modern housing stock.
