About Frankston
Frankston is a major suburban centre on the eastern shore of Port Phillip Bay in Melbourne's south-east, approximately 40 kilometres from the CBD. The suburb serves as the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula and offers beachside living at significantly more affordable prices than inner Melbourne bayside suburbs. Frankston Beach stretches along the waterfront, complemented by a revitalised foreshore precinct with a boardwalk, playground, and public art installations. Property includes a mix of older weatherboard and brick homes, modern townhouses in new estates, and apartments near the station and waterfront. Bayside Shopping Centre and the Frankston Power Centre provide comprehensive retail, while a growing café and restaurant scene has developed around the foreshore and Wells Street areas. Transport is anchored by Frankston station, the terminus of the Frankston train line with services to the CBD in about an hour, plus bus connections throughout the Mornington Peninsula. The EastLink and Peninsula Link freeways provide good road access. Frankston is home to Monash University's Peninsula campus and Chisholm TAFE. The suburb appeals to first home buyers and young families seeking affordable bayside living, students, and investors attracted by the suburb's ongoing revitalisation and improving reputation.
